UNDERSTANDING TYPES OF HEALTH COVERAGE

  • Chiropractic Coverage

Chiropractic treatment is a rapidly expanding alternative therapy for those experiencing back, neck and shoulder pains. It was first introduced at the end of the 1800s, but is only now becoming more widely acknowledged and accepted. Chiropractic care is a healing art based on the manipulation and adjustment of the spine. Chiropractic care givers use recoil thrust, rotational thrust, exercise rehabilitation, temperature treatments and nutrition, among other therapies, to heal the pains which ail patients.

To Consider When Looking for Chiropractic Coverage
While chiropractic care is becoming fairly popular with patients, it is still not considered a traditional medical service by most insurance plans, and thus, not medically necessary. If you have an insurance plan which allows you to see an out-of-network provider for a larger out-of-pocket fee, you can recoup some of your chiropractic care expenses through your plan. If your plan does not pay for any medical charges not provided by preferred network providers or not referred directly by your primary care physician, your only option for discounted services may be purchasing a supplemental discount plan. However, be sure to determine that the discount plan you are purchasing does indeed offer chiropractic services and that the chiropractic office is both reputable and accessible.
